Thompson Statement on the 12th Anniversary of September 11
(WASHINGTON) – Today, Rep. Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS), Ranking Member of the House Committee on Homeland Security, released the following statement commemorating the twelve anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks:
Today we come together to commemorate and honor those who lost their lives twelve years ago. While our nation has rebuilt, the pain of that day is still with us as it was on that day. While our nation was forever changed, we remain dedicated to our core values and beliefs that make us who we are.
While we have made great strides in the fight against terrorism, we must continue this progress and work together to ensure the safety and security of the American people. Let this anniversary serve not only as a remembrance of September 11, but also as a reminder of the work the American people have put us here to do.
